Theoretical Approach

  • Philosophy and Approach to Counseling:

Evidenced based therapy is at the heart of our practice. We are dedicated to treating psychological problems with methods based on the best science available. We specialize in a form of cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) called rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), as well as psychotherapy to include transactional analysis (TA), all three of which have been shown in empirical studies to be effective for a wide variety of diagnoses.

Counseling is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. With this said, we believe no single theory fully explains the complex nature of the human experience.  We rely upon the practice of utilizing effective interventions that have evolved from the field of applied psychotherapy. We integrate CBT, REBT, and psychotherapy models into our counseling theory to fit our personal style and technique while taking into consideration our client as a person, their culture, their values, and the issue or problem presented during therapy.
